About Beat.Tools

Why it exists

Prepping a set usually takes three or four programs: one to detect key, one to write tags, one to build playlists and Rekordbox at the end. Beat.Tools pulls the prep work into one place that opens on any laptop, with nothing to install.

The focus is the work before the gig: finding what goes with what, hearing the transition with stems and landing in Rekordbox with an organized crate.

How it works

All audio processing (DSP) runs in the browser itself, using Web Audio and WebAssembly. Analysis doesn't depend on a server, and the speed comes from your own computer.

• Average BPM and beat grid
• Camelot key, average and fractional across the track
• Energy from 1 to 10 and vocal percentage
• Suggested cue points and HPSS stems to audition transitions
• Rekordbox XML, M3U and CSV export, plus TBPM/TKEY tags in the MP3

Our principles

A few rules decide what goes into the product:

• On-device analysis: analyzing a track never requires sending the audio
• Clear about data: in offline mode nothing leaves the computer; with an account you know exactly what goes to the cloud
• Technical honesty: stems are HPSS, not neural, and identification reads tags — it isn't Shazam
• Prep for Rekordbox, don't compete with it in the booth

What Beat.Tools isn't

It isn't the Ableton Live “Beat Tools” pack, and it has no affiliation with Ableton, AlphaTheta or Pioneer DJ. It also isn't software for playing the show: it preps the crate you'll play from Rekordbox, CDJs or a controller.

Product status

Beat.Tools is in preview and free during this phase. The app is available in English and Portuguese and can be installed as a PWA from Chrome or Edge.
